  • Rare Tea: VIP Tea Tasting

    April 11th at 5pm

One of our tea buyers was in Asia for two months and was on a mission to find exclusive fine teas. He came back with some fine teas that were made from reknowned tea masters. Some of them have already retired or have passed away, so we will not be able to have their teas again in the future.

    VIP Tasting Menu:

    • 2007 Dong Ding - will be had after on-the-spot flame roasting
    • 1983 Dong Ding - made a legendary Dong Ding master
    • 1994 Tieguanyin - originally charcoal roasted and re-roasted again several years ago to remove moisture
    • 1986 Tieguanyin - award-winning tea that has not been re-roasted since 1986
    • years+ Puer - special label; purchase price for each cake would be more than $1500

I tasted one of the teas in Taiwan and paid $100 US for that single pot of tea! Our buyer tried four pots of 1982-83 vintage Dong Ding, each valued at $100 US/pot, to pick this exceptional example of aged Dong Ding that you will try. All the teas that we are going to sample have exceptional mouth feel. Don't miss this chance to taste the richness of fine, aged oolong. All the participants will receive a 10+ year old Dong Ding sample to store and continue aging.

$50/person. Please sign up with Shiuwen for this tea tasting at tea@floatingleaves.com. Space is limted for this event and the shop will be closed during this time.

  • Tea Class: 3 ways to taste tea.

    Sat 4/24, 5pm, 3pm

In this class, we are going to taste tea in the competition tea method, tea buying method, and a method that was taught by a tea merchant in Taiwan. By tasting tea in various methods, you will be able to tell how the same tea presents itself differently in different brewing methods. And most important, you will gain a deeper understanding about how to judge a tea's quality.

$15/person. Please sign up with Shiuwen.
